Training for Police Service Dogs and Handlers
Our police service k-9 trainers have over 50 years of experience working in law enforcement and have handled and trained over 800 police service dogs working throughout the world. Hundreds of police agencies, numerous federal agencies, private security companies, bonding companies and citizens, have derived the benefits of the highest quality police service dogs, detector dogs, and personal protection dogs.
Police Service Dog training consists of Hands on Training for your K-9 and Handler for 4 - 5 weeks at our state of the art facilities in the Kansas City metro area. When you send your police k9 handler to our Kansas dog training center he or she will be teamed with their new Police Service Dog.
The handler will then be taught the following handling techniques and procedures and how to work effectively with the police service dog by our trainers:
- Off Leash Obedience
- Tracking
- Building Searches
- Area Searches
- Evidence Recovery
- Bark & Hold Tactics or Find and Bite
- Tactical Training
- Obstacle Course
- Out of the Patrol Vehicle
- Handler Protection
- Crowd Control
- Remote Training Collar
Handlers must take a written test to maintain their knowledge of the above topics. Handlers and canines must also pass the hands on certification test.
Our training facilities in the Midwest are second to none in the world. Extensive buildings and land in Kansas, state of the art training tools, and scenarios ensure that the police service K9 team becomes a finished product.
We have made special arrangements with a local hotel in the Kansas City area to provide accommodations for your officers while training at Iron Heart.
